Summer Family Photos At Home In South Orange, NJ

There’s something especially meaningful about being welcomed into a family’s home for an at-home family photo session. Homes tell stories, and this summer family photography session in South Orange, NJ was the perfect example of how lifestyle images can capture the personality of a family and what the family values most.

This family of three invited me into their world, and right away it felt relaxed and genuine. We started the session by spending time in their garden, looking at what was growing and talking about their favorite things to do together. These everyday moments will be the ones most remembered so why not capture them in action.

One of my favorite parts of this South Orange family photo session was when dad picked up his guitar and began playing Beatles tunes. Mom and daughter sang along while we hung out in the backyard, surrounded by soft summer light, wild flowers and buzzing bees. Nothing was forced or posed…it was them being themselves, which is always my goal as a lifestyle family photographer.

We moved between the backyard and front yard to add variety to the gallery, then wrapped up the session with their short bike ride down the street, one of their favorite pastimes.
