Family Photographer Westfield NJ | Fall Photos Mindowaskin Park

This family was celebrating a big milestone…their very first professional family photoshoot together. It’s always a treat getting to photograph a new family and to help choose a location that fits the bill.

Mindowaskin Park in Westfield, NJ is always packed with families and photographers during the fall because of its colorful trees, gazebo, winding paths and pond.

Their daughter started out a little shy, holding tightly onto her mom. But after a little exploring and some time to warm up, her personality quickly came through. Before long, she was leading us around the park and fully embracing the usual task of a photoshoot with me…to have fun.

That’s one of my favorite things about photographing toddlers. Sessions almost always begin on their terms, and once they realize there’s no pressure and plenty of time to play, everything starts to unfold naturally.

Between the beautiful fall color, quiet cuddles, and lots of exploring around the park, this session was such a sweet way for this family to document this stage of life together. And I feel like I hit the jackpot because I’m about to photograph them again with their newest addition!
