Spring Maternity Session At Memorial Park In Maplewood, NJ

Spring had just arrived in Maplewood when we met at Memorial Park for this maternity session. The trees were beginning to fill in, the grass was finally bright again, and the whole park had that fresh feeling that comes with the start of a new season. All that newness felt especially fitting for a couple about to become parents for the first time.

Expecting your first baby carries such a unique kind of excitement. Everything is new. Every kick, every conversation about names, every moment imagining what life will look like a few months from now. This session was less about posing and more about giving them space to pause together before their world shifts in the best possible way.

Memorial Park is one of my favorite locations for maternity sessions because it offers so much variety in a short walk: open green spaces, quiet paths and the peaceful “turtle” pond tucked inside the park. It’s the kind of place where couples can relax into the experience instead of feeling like they’re “performing” for the camera. Plus there are plenty of benches to rest for a pregnant woman.

In just a few months, these two will return home with their baby and begin the beautiful, messy, sleep-deprived adventure of parenthood. I’m already looking forward to seeing them again soon for their newborn session and next time their dog will join in too.
