How to Choose the Perfect Location for Your Family Photos in New Jersey

One of my favorite things about full family sessions is the flexibility they offer. You have the time to choose a location that feels meaningful, incorporate the things your family loves, and create a collection of images that feels complete.

This family has trusted me to document their story over the years, and one thing that has remained the same is their love for certain traditions, including some of the poses and moments they have been doing together since their wedding. Those familiar images are such a special part of telling their story.

A full session gives us the opportunity to explore new places together and create a variety of images that capture different sides of their family.

Each location creates a completely different feel. A boardwalk in Asbury Park (see above) brings movement and adventure. A colorful mural in Jersey City (see below) adds personality and album cover vibes.

A favorite neighborhood spot captures the places that are part of their everyday life (see below for murals in their hometown of Maplewood, NJ).

A nature location, like South Mountain Reservation (see below), gives us room to slow down, explore, and capture the connection and little moments that naturally happen during a season like fall.
