Summer backyard sessions are always THE BEST!

I say it over and over but summer backyard sessions are THE BEST, especially with young kids who have energy to burn.

This family spent the morning doing exactly what kids are supposed to do: playing chase, climbing onto their parents’ shoulders, getting tossed in the air by dad, and running back to mom for tickles and cuddles in between.

Being at home changes the entire feel of a session. Kids are comfortable, relaxed and free to move around instead of bring distracted by a new place. It becomes less about posing and more about spending time together.

I love when family sessions leave kids with the memory that photoshoots can and should be fun. Those feelings stick with them and it makes such a difference when they grow up seeing family photos as part of joyful time spent together rather than something stressful.

Between the golden light, fresh grass smell and all the laughter, this morning felt like magic, and it shows in the images.
