South Orange NJ Headshot Photographer | Branding Session with Local Musician Rini Music
One of my favorite things about branding and headshot sessions is creating images that feel authentic to the person behind the business, brand, or art. Every session is a little different, and the goal is always the same: photographs that reflect who you are and how you want to be seen.
When violinist Rini reached out for updated headshots, we wanted images that felt creative, modern, and a little edgy…something that would complement her unique sound of jazz, pop and Carnatic music to help tell the story of her work as an Indian Jazztronica artist.
To create that urban feel, we visited a few locations throughout downtown South Orange New Jersey. One of the advantages of photographing in a walkable downtown area is the variety of backdrops available within just a few blocks. We moved from alleyways and textured brick walls to stairwells and the railroad underpass, using each location to create a different look while maintaining a cohesive feel throughout her gallery.
One of the things I encourage all of my branding and headshot clients to do is bring multiple looks. Even a few simple changes can create a wide variety of images, making it easier to use the photos across websites, social media, concert promotions, press features, and marketing materials. During Rini's session, changing up her wardrobe and locations allowed us to create a collection of images that felt versatile.
As a NJ branding photographer, I love helping clients find locations and backgrounds that align with their brand. For Rini, the combination of urban textures, strong lines, and downtown architecture created a visual style that paired beautifully with her music and personality.
Since this session, I've had the pleasure of photographing Rini and her family as well, which is one of the greatest compliments a photographer can receive. Building long-term relationships with clients and documenting different chapters of their lives is one of my favorite perks of this work.
This summer, Rini will be performing at the beloved Maplewoodstock Festival in July, and so we will be working together again to bring some new images to the promo materials. I’m really looking forward to it!
